Abdi Jama has 15 years of rich and diversified international experience in strategy, leadership development, innovation management and technology consulting roles.
Previous roles include the Managing Director of the Institute for Strategic Initiatives and the CEO of Eactels Ltd. Abdi has been a subcontractor to UNDP and led country level reform projects in East Africa, managed global outsourced projects and worked in most EU countries, the Middle East, Turkey, India and several African countries. Abdi has lectured at Nordic universities and has taught an executive MBA (eMBA) program at Haaga-Helia University as well as advanced engineering classes at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. Abdi has co-authored the book Lead Like a Lion and he is an active writer of leadership and management articles. His management concepts have been referenced by leading business and news journals, such as the Harvard Business Review and The Guardian.
Abdi’s professional interest lies in linking key strategic issues with leadership development initiatives. He places special emphasis on three essential strategic elements: discovering and prioritizing strategic drivers, which determine sustainable competitiveness; leadership strategy, which ignites the connections between people and the business strategy; and how to nurture the individual and organizational renewal that is foundational to sustained performance.
Abdi holds an M.Eng degree in Industrial Management (2007) from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and he is currently pursuing his doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) at Edinburgh Business School.
In his free time Abdi likes to walk and exercise, read interesting books and articles, and take great energy from spending time with his family and friends.
